POSITION SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Director, Major & Complex Gift Communications, the Senior Manager, Major and Complex Gift Communications, will be a key member of the Development Communications and Engagement team.

Working in close partnership with the Major Giving/Individual Giving and Corporate Foundation Relations teams, the Senior Manager will serve as a senior communications strategist for Development's fundraising teams, generating high-quality fundraising proposals, stewardship reports, case statements, promotional literature, featured articles and other Development communication materials as needed.

This role will lead content strategy conversations with hospital, clinical, and Development leadership. The Senior Manager is responsible for scoping deliverables, managing timelines and stakeholder approvals, coordinating and completing interviews with patients, donors, researchers, and clinicians, and completing a variety of deliverables on time and budget.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop communications content in support of team and department-wide needs; deliverables may include proposals, stewardship reports, case statements, one-sheets, PowerPoint presentations and more

  • Serve as a strategic communications partner inadvancing major and complex gift work, developing and implementing communications plans in support of team revenue-generating goals

  • In collaboration with team leadership including the associate director of donor engagement, develop and execute on communications needs for high-value content, including proposal and report content through a gift's full life cycle, event-related communications for cultivation events, and special milestone gifts

  • Create and maintain core content on fundraising priority areas and key mission language that can be repurposed across all gift opportunities and reporting

  • Lead execution of special projects and processes as assigned by/in coordination with team leadership, to include creating frameworks, related process documentation, and workflows that support greater efficiencies, improve collaboration, and achieve goals

  • Support emerging communications needs as the department continues to grow its portfolio of programs across BMC Health System

  • Serve as a key contributor to the Inspire newsletter

  • Coordinate consultants, including freelance writers, designers, and photographers as needed

  • Play a lead role in building and maintaining an asset management system

JOB REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with leadership, Development colleagues, medical staff, patients, and donors

  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, with a high level of organization and attention to detail

  • Understanding of science and technology content and skill to translate it into compelling stories and information for a lay audience

  • Ease with adopting new digital platforms and programs

  • Translation of program budgets

  • Creative and critical thinking

  • Microsoft Office Suite expertise required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience, preferably in a Development role; or equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Preference for a Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or closely related field

  • Healthcare Development, research, or science communications experience

  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Thankview, Raiser's Edge NXT, asset management systems, Asana, or similar project management software


Compensation Range:

$97,500.00- $141,500.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness. In addition, BMCHS offers generous total compensation that includes, but is not limited to, benefits (medical, dental, vision, pharmacy), discretionary annual bonuses and merit increases, Flexible Spending Accounts, 403(b) savings matches, paid time off, career advancement opportunities, and resources to support employee and family well-being.
