We have an exciting Contract Carrier Management Specialist opportunity in our Merriam, KS office. The Contract Carrier Manager is responsible for finding the best rates while ensuring the best possible service for on-time delivery to all customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.




  • Supervises the quality of work for the Plant Dispatchers to ensure loads are shipped timely.
  • Will need to anticipate what normal volumes are even when they are not visible.
  • Contracts third party carriers to deliver meat products to customers.
  • Maintains 98% or better on time delivery service to customers.
  • Assists sales and scheduling department with routing loads.
  • Determines carrier selection based on best price and service.
  • Monitors carrier scorecard and identifies areas of opportunity with carrier contacts.
  • Maintains professional client relationships.
  • Plans and prioritizes customer key accounts.
  • Interacts with shipping and scheduling department and will need to question processes and SOP's.
  • Coordinates with shipping to ensure trailer pool is managed.
  • Supervises track and trace for shipment tracking and late delivery reason code documentation.
  • Ensures carrier capacity and commitments are met.
  • Communicates carrier performance to the carrier representative.
  • Comfortable working in a constantly changing work environment.
  • Manages high call volume and activity.
  • Occasional travel to the plant (5-10%).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required or preferred.   • Minimum 3+ years' work experience within the transportation industry, specifically with shipper or carrier required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products, specifically Excel.
  • Experience with AS400 or TMS software preferred.
  • Able to speak effectively with customers and employees via phone and email.
  • Flexible, as this position does require on-call rotation that includes nights and weekends.



SCHEDULE - As needed or if the schedule is outside of regular business hours.
