Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI's Enterprise Technology team is responsible for both operating the firm's core platforms and shaping how technology-including automation and emerging AI capabilities-can better support financial accuracy, insight, and growth. To support this mission, KCI has established the Senior Functional Analyst - Finance & Operations role to provide dedicated functional ownership of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.

The Senior Functional Analyst serves as the functional authority for Finance & Operations, partnering closely with Finance leadership to define standards, prioritize enhancements, and guide how the system evolves over time. This role balances accounting rigor with system usability, collaborates with technical and data teams to implement improvements or customizations, and ensures Finance & Operations is positioned to support reliable operations today while enabling smarter reporting, automation, and future innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*:

    Accountable for the long-term integrity, accuracy, and usability of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, serving as the senior subject matter expert (SME) for finance and accounting processes.
  • Operate with a high degree of functional autonomy for Finance & Operations, partnering with the Director of Enterprise Systems on core platform decisions, material workflow changes, and long-term strategic direction.
  • Own post-implementation functional design, configuration standards, and operational use of Finance & Operations across accounting, billing, revenue, close, and related finance processes.
  • Establish and evolve functional standards for Finance & Operations, including finance workflows and usage expectations, supporting consistency, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Serve as the primary functional owner and escalation point for Finance & Operations decisions, tradeoffs, and cross-functional issue resolution.
  • Own functional prioritization and approval of Finance & Operations enhancements and configuration changes, including definition of functional and configuration-specific requirements aligned to finance priorities and platform impact.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment and decision-making to resolve competing priorities affecting financial accuracy, close timelines, system stability, and operational outcomes.
  • Lead functional analysis and resolution of complex finance and accounting issues, owning root-cause determination, solution direction, and validation of financial results.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership, balancing accounting requirements, system capabilities, and operational efficiency in functional decision-making.
  • Provide functional leadership and final approval for testing, validation, and release readiness, including approval of test cases and validation of financial outcomes prior to deployment.
  • Partner with ERP technical teams, Data Operations, and implementation partners (e.g., HSO) to deliver aligned Finance & Operations solutions and support downstream financial reporting and analytics.
  • Serve as the functional mentor and escalation point for analysts supporting Finance & Operations, providing guidance on standards, design decisions, and finance best practices.
  • Advocate for finance reporting and insight needs through configuration, reporting inputs, and system usage standards that support accurate and meaningful financial outputs.
  • Own functional oversight of Azure DevOps (ADO) as the system of record for Finance & Operations enhancements, testing readiness, and coordinated release planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience supporting finance, accounting, or ERP-related processes, with demonstrated functional ownership
  • Strong accounting background, including revenue, billing, general ledger, and close processes
  • Proven experience translating accounting and operational requirements into ERP configurations and functional standards
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound functional judgment and make tradeoff decisions within a complex ERP environment
  • Experience mentoring or guiding other analysts or functional resources
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with finance leadership and enterprise technology teams
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or comparable ERP platforms
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance efforts, and financial controls within an ERP environment
  • Familiarity with financial reporting, downstream analytics, and data validation concepts
  • Exposure to test automation, structured testing practices, or continuous improvement initiatives

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred:

  • CPA, CMA, or progress toward accounting certification
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Fundamentals (Finance or related functional area)
