THE POSITION

As a State Veterinarian Temporary - Pocono Downs Racetrack with the Department of Agriculture, you will help ensure that every race is safe and responsible. This position places you at the center of important work that protects horses and supports honest competition. Your efforts will help riders, owners, and the public trust the results of every race. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays a key role in protecting the health of racehorses and ensuring that racing activities follow all required rules. It focuses on supervising testing, observing horses, and maintaining accurate records. As a State Veterinarian Temporary - Pocono Downs Racetrack, you will perform the following duties:
- Test Barn Oversight: Supervise test barn operations and manage the collection and processing of blood and urine samples
- Sample Collection: Draw blood samples and direct the work of test barn personnel
- Pre Race Review: Observe horses before races and assess their fitness to compete
- Chain Of Custody: Maintain proper custody procedures for horses and all collected samples
- Rule Enforcement: Apply Racing Commission rules, policies, and procedures to support race integrity and horse safety

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Graduation from a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Medical Doctor program.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid license to practice veterinary medicine as issued by a State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.
Post Employment Requirement:
- Possession of a Commission Employee License
