Summary:

The Student Intern position at Akron Children's will provide administrative support, assist with research and analysis, and participate in employee relations initiatives within the Human Resources department. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure to employee relations practices in a pediatric healthcare environment.

The Student Intern will assist with data collection, reporting, policy research, and documentation, and may contribute to projects focused on workplace trends, employee experience, and quality improvement initiatives. Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive employee relations information with integrity and professionalism.

  1. Demonstrates appropriate professional behavior, judgment, and appearance in a healthcare environment.
  2. Understands the importance of compliance with employment laws, HR policies, and ethical standards.
  3. Comfortable asking questions, seeking clarification, and learning HR processes.
  4. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
  5. Demonstrates accuracy in data entry, case documentation, and record maintenance.
  6. Follows HR procedures, workflows, and documentation standards carefully.
  7. Pays close attention to deadlines, compliance requirements, and record-keeping expectations.
  8. Ensures consistency and completeness in employee relations tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Office, Word, and Excel.
  2. Ability to learn and navigate HRIS systems and other HR-related technologies.
  3. Comfortable with filing, scanning, and maintaining confidential electronic records.

Other information:

  1. Currently enrolled in a Human Resources or related degree program.
  2. Demonstrates strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  3. Ability to interact professionally, respectfully, and compassionately with all levels of the organization.
  4. Demonstrates discretion, reliability, and sound judgment.
  5. Expresses a strong interest in Human Resources and the healthcare environment.
