Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - UVMMC

The University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistantto join our Radiation Oncology team, supporting both our Burlington (UVMMC)and Berlin (CVMC)locations. This is a newly approved positioncreated to support clinical growth and enhance continuity of care across sites.

This role offers a strong blend of inpatient and outpatient follow-up care, meaningful physician collaboration, and the opportunity to work with a highly experienced, supportive oncology team.

What You'll Do

  • Provide independent follow-up carefor adult radiation oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings

  • Support new outpatient consultations, including palliative radiation oncology consults, in collaboration with Radiation Oncology physicians

  • Participate in coordinated cancer care through participation in tumor boardsand multidisciplinary clinics

  • Collaborate closely with physicians to develop and carry out patient care plans

  • Communicate effectively with clinic staff and scheduling teams to ensure smooth care coordination

  • Contribute to continuity of care across UVMMC and CVMCsites

Schedule

  • 1.0 FTE, full-time (40 hours per week)

  • Day shift, typically 8-10 hour days

  • No weekends and no call

Candidate Requirements & Experience

Required

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

  • Eligible for Vermont licensure

  • Ability to obtain New York licensure(required for telemedicine)

Preferred

  • Prior oncology experience as an APP or RN

Education

Nurse Practitioner (NP)

  • Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program (Master's or Doctoral degree) approved by the Vermont Board of Nursing or national accrediting agency

  • Maintains active licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and active, unrestricted licensure to practice as an Advanced Practice RN (APRN) by the Vermont Board of Nursing

  • RNFA certification strongly recommended

  • DEA registration (or eligibility)

Physician Assistant (PA)

  • Successful completion of a Physician Assistant program at an institution accredited by ARCPA (Accreditation and Review Commission on Education for the PA)

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred

  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

  • Active, unrestricted licensure to practice as a PA by the Vermont Board of Medical Practice

  • DEA registration (or eligibility)
