Location: Austin, TX

Contract: 1 Year (Potential Extension)

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $32.50/hour

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Drafter for a contract opportunity in Austin, TX. This role supports the design, modeling, and documentation of mechanical systems for advanced engineering and test environments. Ideal candidates have strong CAD experience, mechanical design knowledge, and a background in detailed technical drafting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create detailed mechanical drawings, CAD models, and Bill of Materials (BOMs)
• Design and prototype mechanical components for test and measurement systems
• Develop specification documents and engineering design documentation
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external manufacturers
• Support supplier coordination and project execution
• Travel up to 25% (domestic and international) as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
• 5+ years of mechanical drafting or design experience
• 3-5 years of CREO / Pro-E experience required
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, CREO, and 2D/3D CAD tools
• Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• Experience producing technical drawings and design documentation
• Strong communication and supplier collaboration skills

Preferred Experience:

• Fixture/tool design and fabrication methods (machining, sheet metal, casting, etc.)
• Thermal analysis, stress analysis, and FMEA/RCCA methods
• Basic electrical design knowledge (grounding, shielding, cable design)
• Experience with ESD principles
