Chemistry The Department of Chemistry is a research-focused academic unit that supports collaboration among faculty, staff, and students. The department includes endowed faculty positions and tenured faculty members, some of whom hold fellow status in professional organizations such as AAAS, ACS, and RSC. Faculty and staff participate in research, instruction, and mentoring activities that support student academic and professional development. Departmental work includes laboratory and project coordination, research activity, instructional support, and opportunities for scholarly engagement such as presenting research at professional conferences.
Job Description
- Perform basic standard assays using the HPLC, AKTA purifier, spectrophotometer, and plate reader instruments
- Perform protein expression and purification
- Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train other members of the laboratory
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree program in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related field
- The ideal candidate will have introductory laboratory experience gained through coursework or prior research, with familiarity in basic biochemical techniques such as buffer preparation, spectrophotometric assays, protein analysis, and enzyme activity measurements
- Experience in maintaining accurate laboratory records, following safe laboratory practices, and working with standard laboratory equipment is desirable
- Candidates should demonstrate strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research laboratory environment
- An interest in biochemical research and a willingness to learn new experimental techniques are essential
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $20.00 hourly. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
