This position reports to:

Maintenance Manager

In this role, you will have the opportunity to purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. Each day, you will ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team.

The work model for the role is: Onsite and will be a 2nd shift role that will be training on day shift.

This role is contributing to the success of the ABB Busway business in Selmer, TN.

Typical Duties/Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify, qualify, and develop new suppliers in collaboration with category teams, Supplier Quality, and Engineering; negotiate agreements, renew pricing and terms, and adapt corporate contracts to local business needs while recommending and executing framework agreements.

  • Analyze and evaluate bids to determine optimal value, support bid/proposal teams with market insights, and ensure supplier selections align with cost, quality, delivery, sustainability, and overall project or ERP/SOP requirements.

  • Manage purchasing operations by initiating Purchase Orders (POs) per requisitions and procedures, confirming deliveries with suppliers, tracking goods received, and ensuring accurate invoice processing and compliance with standard workflows.

  • Monitor and manage supplier performance (including on-time delivery, quality, and lead times), resolve performance issues, and continuously track supplier adherence to PO requirements and customer expectations.

  • Maintain system and process alignment by ensuring SAP Ariba data is updated per procedures and aligning all supplier orders with internal policies, customer requirements, and operational standards across content, quality, delivery, sustainability, and pricing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) purchasing, including sourcing, supplier coordination, inventory support, and managing procurement processes for maintenance-related materials and services.

  • Practical knowledge or experience with tool crib setup and management, including organizing, tracking, issuing, and maintaining tools and equipment to support operational efficiency (preferred but not mandatory).

  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), including using such systems to support maintenance planning, inventory tracking, work orders, and procurement integration (preferred).

  • Educational background aligned with business or a related field, ideally supported by a two-year Associate's degree, demonstrating foundational knowledge in procurement, operations, or supply chain principles (preferred).

  • Equivalent combination of relevant work experience and practical expertise may be considered in lieu of formal education, particularly where strong procurement, MRO, or maintenance-support capabilities are demonstrated.

  • Ability and willingness to maintain a valid driver's license and must have work authorization to work for ABB in the United States.
