UNC School of Medicine's Department of Neurosurgery seek a full-time physician scientist, open-rank, faculty member specializing in the treatment and research of brain tumors to lead the Neurosurgical arm of the
UNC Neuro-Oncology program. Ideal candidates will be fellowship-trained in Neurosurgical Oncology.
The National Cancer Institute (
NCI) first designated the
UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1990.

UNC Lineberger is the only public Comprehensive Cancer Center in North Carolina to have this designation.
UNC Lineberger has been rated 'exceptional' by the
NCI in its most recent reviews. The opportunities for both clinical practice and research are extensive and also leverage the excellence and proximity of the
UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Gillings School of Global Public Health.
UNC Lineberger is the academic home to the cancer programs, and the clinical home is the North Carolina Cancer Hospital, a 320,000 square-foot dedicated cancer hospital opened in 2009, and across the street from
UNC Lineberger.
UNC Lineberger physicians have been offering multidisciplinary, patient-centered care for more than a quarter century, giving patients access to medical and patient support specialists in one place, often in one visit. UNC's system has been used as a model by other cancer centers and oncology programs nationwide.
The Neuro-Oncology program boasts an established clinical practice comprising Neuro-Oncologists and Neurosurgeons with special expertise and interest in brain tumors, and dedicated Radiation Oncologists with research and clinical expertise in fractionated and stereotactic radiosurgery, working closely within this multidisciplinary structure. There is a robust clinical trials portfolio, a centralized clinical trials office providing broad research support and access to the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative and the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. |
