The Manufacturing Specialist will provide analysis, recommendations, and coordination support to our Bench Assembly and Kitting operations by evaluating in-house versus outside processing decisions for parts and assemblies. Responsible for understanding manufacturing requirements, (drawings, BOMs, routings, and order of operations) to support decisions related to cost, capacity, lead time, scheduling, and operational execution. The position also supports work order management, subcontract processing, and system data integrity to help ensure efficient operations and service to customers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

* Determine the in-house vs outside processing decision based on the best overall cost and delivery time while considering the core competencies/capabilities of the internal bench assembly and kitting functional areas.

* Analyze drawings, bills of material, routings, and assembly requirements to understand the manufacturing/assembly logic and sequences, order of operations, and operational requirements needed to produce parts or assemblies.

* Negotiates as required and maintains professional relations with suppliers to contribute to the competitiveness of the business by optimizing purchases within the respective category.

* Set up and maintain all necessary part attributes including template, buyer, lead-time, cost roll flags, and update future cost.

* Coordinate any special assembly pricing requirements with the customer service teams

* Conduct annual review to re-evaluate standard costs for all in house bench assembly items.

* Assist in sourcing for possible subcontractors for a manufacturing part.

* Review reports to schedule and manage work orders based on priority and parts availability and provide status updates to customer service teams as required.

* Review completed Bench Assembly and Kitting work orders before closure to ensure material and labor costs have been accurately applied and that no outstanding costs remain in work-in-process.

* Schedule and release work orders for the bench and kitting areas, allocate and reserve inventory and update schedule based on parts availability.

* Schedule and release outside process work orders and corresponding purchase orders for assemblies

* Expedite work order shortages by IR through bus production and reporting to category teams.

* Create rework work orders as requested by buyers for rejected components.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

* Post-secondary education in operations, manufacturing, engineering technology or related field.

* Manufacturing experience with reading drawings, BOM analysis, and familiarity with assembly processes.

* Experience or exposure to ERP systems.

* Excellent computer skills, organizational and communication skills.

* Understanding of ERP/MRP systems and the use of work orders, purchase orders, BOM's, routings, lead times, inventory allocation, and standard costing.
