PRIMARY DUTIES:

The Crane Repair Person will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of crane systems within the mill by ensuring assets are maintained per established asset strategies and repaired effectively and efficiently when out of service. They will provide experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy industrial equipment, and are required to inspect, test, calibrate, repair, install, fabricate, construct, adjust, lubricate, maintain, dismantle and clean all crane equipment and work in conjunction with other maintenance crafts.

  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair all components on crane systems including but not limited to motors, gearboxes, brakes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, drives, controls, and festooning systems.

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all industrial cranes to ensure continuous operation.

  • Perform welding, machining, electronic work, pipefitting, and rigging required on the repair job.

  • Install new parts on cranes and auxiliary equipment.

  • Reassemble and test machine to ensure proper operation.

  • Repair, rebuild, clean and assemble mechanical and electrical spare parts.

  • Work with overhead cranes and hoists to move and install large machinery parts.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Fabricate parts as necessary using welders, torches, grinders, and cutting equipment.

  • Collaborate with mechanics and electricians, engineers, and other maintenance staff to troubleshoot, design, repair, and optimize equipment.

  • Document work performed and maintain accurate maintenance logs, and reports using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.

  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as directed by management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.

  • 3 - 5 years' experience as qualified craft personnel (Mechanical, Electrical, or Crane Discipline) in a heavy industrial environment, preferably in steel, metal, or manufacturing industries.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, VFDs, and industrial machinery.Knowledge of crane systems preferred.

  • Welding and metal fabrication experience required.

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.

  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout and other OSHA safety standards.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be able to meet safety requirements including ANSI fall protection expectations
