Position Title: Lab Assistant I

Work Location: 361 Whitney Ave, Holyoke, MA 01040

Duration: 91 Days (Potential to Extend)

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Work Schedule:

• 1st Shift: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM
• Monday to Friday

The Lab Assistant I will work in a high-volume, production-based environment and play a vital role in supporting clinical laboratory operations, with a focus on Histology processes.

• Receive and sort clinical laboratory specimens
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
• Perform data entry and scan specimen and patient information
• Ensure laboratory equipment is functioning properly and perform minor maintenance
• Troubleshoot specimen-related issues
• Replenish testing bench supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Complete record logs and other administrative tasks
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure safety and quality
• Support histology operations including receiving supplies, case assembly, equipment maintenance, and reagent changes

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

• Previous medical, laboratory, or production experience preferred
• Experience handling biological specimens is a plus

• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• Strong attention to detail with ability to multitask and prioritize
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
• Must pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
