| Organizational Unit Overview |
The Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences Grants Hub primarily serves all departments within the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences, with some support for the College of Engineering and Technology, the College of Fine Arts and Communications, and the College of Business. The Hub provides both pre- and post-award grants management at the College level. |
| Job Duties |
50%:
- Oversee and manage all transactional, budgetary, and regulatory aspects of the Hub's grant portfolio, which includes working with the College personnel coordinators and budget assistants, as needed, for hiring grants personnel and tracking budgets
- Maintain databases of awards and current effort commitments, including cost-sharing commitments
- Maintain financial records and dashboards for the Hub
- Track the timely and appropriate establishment of new sponsored research accounts; provide regular financial reports and projects on awards and award counts; and assures and monitor compliance with University and sponsor regulations, policies, and guidelines
30%:
- Liaise between faculty members engaged in funded projects, departmental offices, the Dean's office, and a range of central university offices responsible for post-award grants administration
- Meet with PIs during initial award and periodically to review award terms and conditions, grant expenditures and spending plans, and to resolve and troubleshoot post award issues
- Notify faculty of continuation/renewal due dates and any need to revise effort allocations
20%:
- Develop and oversee policies and procedures related to post-award grants management and identify and resolve operational issues
- Advise the Associate Dean for Research with ongoing and future staffing suggestions for the Hub
- Prepare regular updates and reports for the Dean, Associate Dean for Research, Chairs, and PIs
- Oversee development and delivery of training and coaching for SHRA post-award Hub staff
- Serve on institutional committees and participate in institution-wide special projects
This position may be eligible for Flexible Work Arrangements (
FWA) ranging from face-to-face to fully remote under the
ECU

| Minimum Education/Experience |
Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area and three years of administrative management or business management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |

| Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education |
Master's degree preferred.
CPA or
CRA Certification preferred. Ability to work independently. Leadership, management, communication, facilitation and customer service skills. Experience in a university environment responsible for the fiscal management of contracts and grants; demonstrated experience partnering with faculty, senior administrators, and external research sponsor officials.
Knowledge of programs and procedures for granting agencies, including federal agencies (e.g.,
NSF,
NIH,
DOD,
USDA,
NOAA,
NEH,
NEA) as well as corporate and private foundations and sponsors, and knowledge of relevant
OMB regulations. Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting and financial analysis. Experience with online accounting/financial systems. Expertise in using computer tools such as spreadsheets, databases and word processing tools. Demonstrated experience completing projects with minimal supervision. |
