Optum is seeking an Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our growing team. At Optum, we are transforming healthcare nationally while providing physician-led care locally. Work with the largest care delivery organization in the world and start doing your life's best work.

Schedule: Office is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. This role would consist of a 40- hour work week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 am to 6:30 pm or until last patient leaves, Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 7:30 am to 4:30 pm or until last patient leaves. The schedule will be determined by the supervisor upon hire. Rotating Holidays and Weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients
  • Verifies patient demographics and insurance information
  • Collects outstanding balances, co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurances
  • Checks patients out and schedules future appointments
  • Performs general clerical duties
  • Meets the communication needs of the patient/ family, practice providers, and practice staff
  • Participate in performance improvement activities
  • Greet patients in a professional and courteous manner
  • Directs patients to appropriate areas
  • Check-in' all patients, gives patient medical forms to complete and update if needed
  • Collecting payments, printing receipts, and posting payments
  • Scanning and filing patients' information if needed
  • Reconciles cash drawer daily and send deposit to Department manager
  • Retrieve and sort mail into appropriate boxes
  • Sorts and documents any returned mail
  • Maintains a good working relationship with practice staff members
  • Performs all other duties assigned
  • Meets dress code standards: appearance is neat and clean
  • Completes annual/ monthly education requirements
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled
  • Completes work in a timely manner
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Ensures patient confidentiality
  • Complies with all practice policies and procedures.
  • Willing to work weekends in rotation and travel to either of the 2 Urgent Cares to fulfill the business needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)

  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience

  • 1+ years of computer proficiency experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience working in medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records

  • Knowledge EMR (ECW)

  • Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and as a team, and maintain good judgment and accountability

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
