Compensation:

We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $17.95 to $19.00 and is commensurate with experience.

Position Description: The Front Desk Assistant provides essential administrative and customer service support to the Community Resource Department, serving as a welcoming first point of contact for clients, visitors, and volunteers. This role supports the daily operations of the Dining Room, Non-Monetary Donations, and Volunteer Services by assisting with front desk coordination, communication, and general administrative tasks.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 12:00 pm (Part-Time, 22 hours per week)

Required: HS Diploma or GED; 1-3 years of experience working with homeless or other marginalized populations.

Required License/Certification: CPR/First-Aid

  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Expected Contributions: Administrative



  • Greet and direct visitors, guests, and donors. Answering phones and answering questions about SOME services.
  • Welcomes volunteers and assists in the volunteer experience
  • Handling complaints courteously and professionally.
  • Managing and maintaining inventory of office supplies, forms, and equipment. Assists in ordering supplies as needed.
  • Operating copy equipment, fax machines, printers, and other equipment as necessary
  • Assists in collecting and inputting department statistics on a daily basis
  • Maintain the cleanliness and order of the reception area.
  • Provide referrals to guests for community resource services and other services provided at SOME.
  • Coordinate guest sign-up for additional program services, as needed.
  • Assists clients with retrieving mail and utilizing mail services as needed.
  • Responsible for tracking income packages, mail, and other items
  • Provides guests with requested items, including hygiene kits, phone usage, snacks, etc.
  • Assist with receiving donations and providing donation receipts, as needed.


Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods. Must be able to travel to events and meetings off-site.
