This role offers the opportunity to shape and strengthen physical security across one of the nation's largest healthcare systems. The Executive Director of Physical Security plays a critical leadership role in protecting patients, caregivers, visitors, and assets while advancing a consistent, riskinformed, and enterprisealigned security strategy across Providence.

The Role

The Executive Director of Physical Security reports to the SVP, Chief Real Estate Officer and provides strategic leadership, direction, and longrange planning for the Physical Security service line across Providence. This role has direct oversight of internal investigators and analysts and is responsible for managing, and in some cases overseeing, external investigators retained for specific matters.

The Executive Director works collaboratively with operational areas across the enterprise-including Real Estate, Operations, Clinical Care, Compliance, Risk, Legal, and others-to provide guidance and oversight related to physical security policies, standards, processes, training, and consultative services. The role is accountable for the continued development and execution of physical security strategy, enterprise alignment of initiatives and projects, and the establishment of consistent practices across the organization.

This position leads the Physical Security Council, comprised of regional physical security leaders, to ensure inclusive development, communication, and implementation of policies, standards, and best practices. The role is also responsible for developing and maintaining enterprise reporting, analytics, and governance structures to ensure physical security services are appropriately designed, documented, communicated, and continuously improved.

What You'll Do



  • Oversee the enterprisewide physical security service line by setting strategy, priorities, and key initiatives; provide direct oversight of investigators and analysts.
  • Drive and coordinate organizational transformation, process improvement, and optimization initiatives to strengthen physical security programs and practices.
  • Advocate for and establish operational processes that improve efficiency, service quality, cost containment, and safety for patients, caregivers, and visitors.
  • Facilitate development and maintenance of enterprise physical security policies, standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Develop written reports and present findings to executive leadership and appropriate board committees regarding significant physical security risks and issues.
  • Lead the Physical Security Council to recommend and implement systemwide physical security risk assessments, remediation strategies, and performance metrics.
  • Provide leadership for the development, implementation, and management of structures that enable effective and efficient enterprise delivery of physical security services.
  • Lead strategy development and ongoing management of physical security Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Partner with Clinical Risk, Quality, and Compliance leaders to ensure alignment with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Serve as a physical security subject matter expert to the system Emergency Preparedness team.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Legal, Operations, and clinical partners to ensure effective mitigation of securityrelated risks and organizational needs.
  • Develop and manage governance frameworks for security committees and workgroups to ensure enterprise engagement and alignment.
  • Support workplace violence prevention initiatives from a physical security perspective, including training and awareness.


What You'll Bring

Education



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Master's degree in a related field or Juris Doctor (J.D.), or equivalent education and experience.


Experience



  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in physical security and/or safety within the healthcare industry.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively increasing management responsibility, including leading teams and supervising staff.
  • Ten (10) or more years of leadership experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Capabilities



  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and lead a systemwide program requiring collaboration, influence, and consensus building.
  • Strong understanding of physical security and safety considerations in a multistate healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with multistate and federal Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information for executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, concise, and wellstructured reports, correspondence, and summaries.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and deliver constructive feedback effectively.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy, even under pressure .

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors.
