Physician - General Surgeon

AtCHRISTUS Healthin Shreveport, aGeneral Surgeonisa key medical leader responsible for the comprehensive diagnosis and surgical management of diverse conditions. This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team within a faith-based, not-for-profit health system dedicated to compassionate, high-quality care.

• Clinical Care: Manage patients with diseases affecting theabdomen, digestive tract, endocrine system, breast, skin, and blood vessels.
• Surgical Procedures: Perform a wide range of operations including hernias, gallstones, appendicitis, and cancer surgeries, often usingminimally invasive and robotic techniques.
• Patient Management: Oversee the entire care cycle, includingpreoperative diagnosis, the surgical operation, andpostoperative recoveryand treatment.
• Collaborative Leadership: Act as the leader of the surgical team, partnering with cardiologists, radiologists, and other specialists to develop patient-centered treatment plans.
• Documentation: UtilizeEPIC EMRfor efficient patient management and clinical documentation.
• Academic Involvement: Surgeons may have opportunities to work with students and residents, contributing to the region's academic growth.

• Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
• Training: Completion of anACGME-accreditedGeneral Surgery residency program.
• Certification: Must beBoard Certifiedor Board Eligible by the American Board of Surgery.
• Licensure: Must possess or be eligible for an unrestrictedLouisiana Medical License.
• Experience: Some specialized roles within the system may require specific experience levels (e.g., 5 years).
