San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization with two front doors: the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. We integrate wildlife health and care, science, and education to develop sustainable conservation solutions.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Director of Strategic Analysis leads all planning, forecasting, reporting, strategic analysis, etc. to support business partners in providing insight to their financial performance and financial decision making processes. They also lead efforts to support cross-function efforts in Finance and across the organization with a goal of creating transparency and efficiencies. This position reports to the Vice President of Finance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO



  • Leads all planning and forecasting functions, including the development of processes, timelines, communications and engagement with business partners.
  • Leads a team to support business partner financial analysis, including engagement on forecasts, reporting on actual performance and analyzing actual results vs. forecast/plan amongst others.
  • Establishes and maintains strong and cohesive relationships with business partners, ensures provision of great customer service and addressing ad-hoc analysis/requests as appropriate.
  • Hires, trains, leads, develops and coaches staff, including monitoring and evaluating their performance and recommending and implementing personnel actions.
  • Leads and supports profit enhancement opportunities producing materials that can be presented to the Executive Team.
  • Leads all financial reporting to support internal and external needs.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR JOB EXPERIENCE



  • 5 years of strategic analysis experience required.



EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree in math, business administration, finance, or a related field or equivalent specialized training and/or extensive job experience.
  • Actuarial Certification preferred



SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE



  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint programs.
  • Knowledge of pension, benefit plans and other fringe benefits preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions, disciplines and levels.
  • Able to effectively research and analyze information.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and make presentations.
  • Must have effective interpersonal/communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and influence.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate creative ideas to improve performance.
  • Able to adapt quickly and work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Must have strong initiative, ability to adapt and learn quickly.

The posted salary range represents the full compensation potential for this role over time. Initial hiring offers are typically made within the lower to mid portion of the range and are based on a combination of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and organizational considerations. Placement near the top of the range is generally reserved for individuals who demonstrate sustained performance, growth, and expanded responsibilities in the role over time.
