Position Summary

Lead internal team and direct external resources in the calibration existing and new equipment throughout the Lincoln site. Foster development of colleague skillsets and capabilities; and monitor fleet of standards used in execution of work. Evaluate and approve requisitions for parts inventory related to Calibration functions. Perform job duties in the most effective manner possible to meet FDA/USDA/UK/cGMP/OSHA/EPA requirements.

Hours: 1st Shift. Extended hours based on business needs.

Position Responsibilities

  • Champion calibration program to promote process integrity and consistency; follow established standards and practices to ensure process and data integrity.
  • Respond to emergency needs, assigning tasks and organizing colleagues to recover as quickly as possible; Assist root cause analysis on the causes of calibration failures and identify ways to minimize impacts.
  • Ensure all colleagues are adequately trained and continue to receive training on cGMPs, Safety, OSHA, technical skills, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Identify and correct safety hazards. Conduct investigations. Assure compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Ensure team's work is in compliance with current SOP's, GMP guidelines, and FDA, USDA, EU, and internal Zoetis quality standards. Assess work for impact to quality attributes and the requirement for change control.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and promote standardization/benchmarking for practices and instrumentation.
  • Establish and control the designated expense budget; assist in determining capital budget needs for the department.
  • Use situational leadership skills.

  • Carry out job rotation as part of skill development and reinforcement of SOPs.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree in a technical field, or commensurate levels of industrial experience with demonstrated leadership skills and applicable technical knowledge.
  • Experience as a craftsman/tradesperson in a manufacturing facility department or relevant experience in a technical department.
  • Experience in a leadership position in a manufacturing facility maintenance department.
  • Familiarity with Calibration and Instrumentation processes/procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical and safety training programs.
  • Technical knowledge of calibration instrumentation, as well as general knowledge of production equipment.
  • Ability to identify applicable SOP's and guidelines; and cite that guidance in support of a business case.
  • Knowledge of FDA/USDA/GMP/OSHA regulations applicable to the Pharmaceutical/Biological industry

PREFERRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • BS in Engineering or related field.
  • Supervisory experience in a Maintenance role
  • Experience in the Maintenance Department at a Pharmaceutical/Biological production facility.

Technical Skills and Competencies Required

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with, and positively influence, internal and external work groups.
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to motivate self and others.
  • Valid drivers' license may be required.
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, and the CMMS.

Physical Position Requirements

  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 lbs.
  • May be exposed to temperature variations and may work in noisy and unconditioned areas.
  • Prolonged standing, crouching, sitting, walking, and climbing may be part of the candidate's daily routine.
