Entry-Level Telecom Laborer An entry-level field position supporting underground and aerial telecom construction projects through hands-on labor, equipment operation, and site preparation. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build a long-term career in telecommunications and is willing to travel for work. About the Role The Telecom Laborer works as part of a field crew to install and maintain telecom infrastructure. Work is performed outdoors in varying conditions and requires travel to job sites up to 5 days per week. You'll assist with digging, conduit installation, vegetation control, and general site preparation while learning industry tools, equipment, and safety practices. Key Responsibilities * Operate basic and skilled equipment to support field construction tasks * Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment * Complete manual labor duties including digging, trenching, and ground preparation * Lay conduit according to project specifications and safety standards * Perform weed eating, trimming, and vegetation management around work sites * Follow all safety procedures and participate in required safety training * Work under the direction of a Foreman or Crew Lead * Support the crew with additional tasks to ensure efficient project completion * Travel to various job sites up to 5 days per week Required Skills & Experience * General labor experience or willingness to perform physical work * Interest in telecom, cable, fiber optic, or construction fields * Ability to learn and use hand tools, power tools, and basic equipment * Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to travel * Ability to work outdoors and in physically demanding environments Preferred Skills (Not Required) * Exposure to coax or fiber optic installation * Experience in construction, utilities, or related trades Qualifications * Entry-level; no prior telecom experience required * Must be selfsufficient, motivated, and eager to learn * Ability to follow instructions and work safely Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashland, VA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
