Find what makes you Superpowered. Become a Gridtern. As we help clear the path to a greener future, we need to ensure our people continue to power our progress. The world of energy is changing faster than ever! Our Gridtern Program provides current college students the ability to gain practical experience within the energy industry. Your summer will begin on Monday, June 15, 2026, and will be filled with meaningful work experiences, professional development, networking opportunities, community involvement, and most importantly, have fun! What You'll Do
Our Standards and Construction Standards team is responsible for developing, updating, and publishing material, design and engineering standards, specifications, and manuals that support the construction, maintenance, and operation of electric distribution and transmission power line networks. These documents provide cost-effective guidelines for construction and engineering personnel, ensuring safe, reliable, and consistent development of electric distribution and transmission systems. The group also contributes to the industry by supporting and influencing code requirements from organizations such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and several others. As a Gridtern, you will help develop and maintain internal electric construction standards that provide clear guidance on acceptable materials, techniques, and assemblies for both overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems. You will ensure all new standards align with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and other applicable regulations, and regularly update standards to reflect changes in code requirements, technological advancements, and input from field teams and stakeholders. You will oversee and classify change requests related to electric standards, including those prompted by industry developments, internal recommendations, and pilot initiatives involving new technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, work methods, safety, and operations to maintain safety and regulatory compliance, and you will serve as a subject matter expert on electric materials and construction standards within the organization. You will be based in Northboro, MA, working in a Hybrid format for the summer. You must reside within a commutable distance to the designated work location during this period. What You'll Need
