The Power Plant Fuel Handling Technician II is an experienced technician that operates stationary and mobile (heavy) equipment and assists in the maintenance efforts of the electric generating unit equipment. Perform duties in accordance with plant, corporate and environmental procedures to meet the fuel needs of the generating units. Execute shift duties in a manner to assure high equipment availability.
Key Responsibilities
Champions a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, diversity and inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence. Operates the fuel handling stationary equipment in a manner to consistently meet the fuel needs of the generating unit. Safeguard equipment during operations to avoid equipment damage and housekeeping issues. Operates the systems in an environmentally responsible and safe manner. Performs minor maintenance activities when on shift and supports plant maintenance as required especially during outages. Performs shift inspections daily to ensure proactive maintenance and prevent catastrophic failures. Explores and reports equipment issues to improve the overall maintenance efforts of the fuel handling systems. Manage the fuel storage pile to prevent run-off and fuel degradation. Maintain plant roads as required to allow for safe travel on the site. Assist entry-level fuel handling technicians to help train and support them in their job responsibilities. Provide communication to their supervisor to provide updates on fuel handling activities, and identify risks.
Qualifications Required Education, Skills & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent with related vocational or technical training preferred 3-5+ years of related experience Knowledge of leading practices for their area of responsibility Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner Progression to this level is strictly restricted based on critical individual capabilities and business requirements
