GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Assembly Bay Manager lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for system-level integration, verification, and validation of hypersonic components and flight systems. This role oversees test strategy, operations, team development, and cross-functional coordination to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements. The manager blends deep technical understanding with strong leadership to drive efficient execution, early issue discovery, and high-quality product delivery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Leadership & Team Management



  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of integration & test engineers and technicians.
  • Define team priorities, allocate resources, and manage workload across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Build a culture of accountability, technical rigor, and continuous improvement.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and long-term career development.


Technical Oversight



  • Establish integration and test strategies aligned with system requirements and program objectives.
  • Review and approve test plans, procedures, scripts, and integration configurations.
  • Provide guidance on system architecture, interfaces, requirements traceability, and verification methods.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for system-level issues.


Program Execution & Lab Operations



  • Oversee execution of integration activities, functional testing, performance testing, and regression testing.
  • Ensure test environments, benches, and labs are properly maintained, configured, and safe to operate.
  • Manage configuration control, test readiness reviews, and integration milestones.
  • Coordinate with program management to track progress, risks, and resource needs.


Cross Functional Collaboration



  • Partner with systems engineering, hardware, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to define test requirements and resolve integration challenges.
  • Communicate test results, risks, and recommendations to engineering leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support customer reviews, audits, and technical discussions as needed.


Process & Capability Improvement



  • Identify opportunities to improve integration workflows, automation, and test efficiency.
  • Drive adoption of best practices in requirements verification, defect tracking, and configuration management.
  • Champion investments in new tools, test equipment, and infrastructure to expand team capability.
  • Maintain and evolve documentation, procedures, and training materials.

  • Significant experience in system integration, verification, or hardware/software testing.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, interfaces, and requirements management.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an engineering or test environment.
  • Proficiency with test equipment, automation tools, and data analysis platforms.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a technical discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in flight vehicle assembly and integration.
