Starkey is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer I - Onsite to it's Operations team at its global headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. This manufacturing engineer position is responsible for assisting in the development and application of new processes and equipment for the manufacturing and assembly of our products. In this position, you will serve as a focal point of communication between manufacturing departments and all other areas to facilitate, analyze, and offer solutions to manufacturing problems. Starkey offers 4 weeks of PTO, a full benefits package, including a 401k with match.

Job Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and supporting the digital manufacturing processes




    • Troubleshoot and setup digital scanners
    • Troubleshoot global file transfers
    • Troubleshoot and setup 3 dimensional digital printers
    • Assist in developing non-manufacturing processes



Continually improve the manufacturing processes of our custom, standard and accessory products.




    • Support PFMEA efforts during product development to reduce process risks.
    • Represent Manufacturing Engineering (voice of manufacturing) to other development teams within R&D and Contract manufacturers.
    • Lead, drive improvement efforts on existing manufacturing processes that are justified and implement new fully tested processes.
    • Partner with Design Engineering on new product development. Participate in design reviews, establish manufacturing requirements, and coordinate needed testing or device builds.
    • Partner with Quality Engineering to identify and implement ongoing quality improvements
    • Qualify and validate new and improved processes, fixtures, equipment and technology for manufacturability.
    • Review manufacturing processes for inefficiencies



Coordinate lean manufacturing and lean office improvement activities




    • Teach production and office workers lean principles
    • Create and update current state value stream maps
    • Facilitate kaizen events
    • Hold event reviews
    • Create and update future state value stream maps
    • Follow up on open items and track improvements



Track production time standards and capacities




    • Perform time standards
    • Keep time standard matrix up to date
    • Calculate production capacities



Minimum education, certification and experience requirements:

Education:
4 year degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering.

Experience:
Minimum 1 year experience working with the following: Lean manufacturing, time study, value stream mapping and facilitating kaizen events.

Technical Requirements:
Knowledge of Lean Principles required
Knowledge of six sigma principles a plus
Knowledge of simulation modeling a plus

Salary and Other Compensation:

The target rate for this position is between $66,200.00 to $87,150.00/year. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is eligible for a bonus based upon performance results. There is no guarantee of payout.
