Summary 2A ICU is the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Health Lexington. We are a 21-bed unit caring for critically ill patients with diagnoses including, but not limited to: respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), multi-system organ failure, sepsis, shock (sepsis, cardiogenic, hemorrhagic), surgical patients (lung, vascular, abdominal). Many of our patients are on the ventilator and have invasive devices such as central venous access devices, dialysis access, arterial lines, etc. The environment is fast paced, and you will care for a diverse patient population where quality care is our top priority. Job Description: 2A ICU is a 21-bed medical/surgical ICU serving high acuity medical ICU patients. The unit population is cardiac interventions, SARS, Cardiogenic shock, Rotoprone, Post-partum critical care patients and complex care ICU patients most of which have a medical or cardiac diagnosis. - As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.
Requirements:
- Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university or an Associate's Degree with a minimum of ten (10) years' experience required. In lieu of a bachelor's degree and less than ten years' experience, an Associate Degree in Nursing will be acceptable for initial hire with the understanding that the individual must be enrolled within 12 months in a bachelor's degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
- Basic Life Support
- ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment
