Torch Technologies is seeking multiple System Administrators to support the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of information systems used on DoD programs, including mission-critical and classified environments. This role ensures system reliability, security, and performance across Linux (Red Hat) and Windows platforms in support of engineering, test, and operational activities.

Positions are available across Levels I-IV, with responsibilities, technical depth, and leadership expectations aligned to experience and grade.

Key Responsibilities (All Levels):

  • Install, configure, operate, and maintain Linux (Red Hat) and Windows operating systems.
  • Support day-to-day system administration for development, test, and operational environments.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security.
  • Apply system updates, patches, and configuration changes in accordance with DoD and program requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Assist with system security, hardening, and compliance activities.
  • Support system backups, recovery, and continuity operations.
  • Maintain system documentation, procedures, and configuration records.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and engineering teams.
  • Support audits, inspections, and program reviews.

Level-Specific Expectations:

System Administrator I

  • Entry-level or early-career position.
  • Performs basic system administration tasks under supervision.
  • Assists with system setup, user support, and documentation.
  • Gains experience with DoD environments and security processes.

System Administrator II

  • Performs system administration tasks with limited supervision.
  • Independently manages Linux and Windows systems.
  • Supports troubleshooting, patching, and system upgrades.
  • Participates in security and compliance activities.

System Administrator III

  • Senior-level system administrator.
  • Leads administration of complex or classified systems.
  • Provides technical guidance to junior administrators.
  • Supports system design, integration, and optimization.
  • Interfaces with program stakeholders and customers.

System Administrator IV

  • Principal or lead system administrator.
  • Defines system administration strategies and best practices.
  • Leads system architecture, sustainment, and modernization efforts.
  • Supports major program milestones, audits, and customer engagements.
  • Advises leadership on system performance, risk, and improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications (All Levels):

  • US Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2 to 8 plus years of experience in this field.
  • Experience administering Linux (Red Hat) and Windows operating systems.
  • Understanding of system administration principles and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to document technical procedures and system configurations.
  • Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting DoD or classified programs.
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements (e.g., STIGs, RMF).
  • Experience with virtualization, scripting, or automation tools.
  • Experience supporting engineering or mission-critical systems.

  • Customer Site.

  • Limited travel may be required depending on program needs.
