HDR is currently in search of a Transportation Hydraulics EIT/Coordinator in our Transportation Business Group. The primary duties of the Transportation Hydraulics EIT/Coordinator include working in a team with other project engineers on stormwater master plans, floodplain evaluations, and the design of urban and rural roadway, highway and transit projects. The Transportation Business Group is active in the aviation, transit, freight rail, highway and local roads, and federal market sectors.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Work under the direction of multiple project engineers to apply various design, engineering and modeling techniques in the development of transportation and water resource projects for local municipalities, state and federal clients.
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects such as site studies, site designs, contract documentation preparation and graphic presentation.
  • Prepare civil design drawings with BIM/CADD platforms for construction documents.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations and calculations. Preparing drainage maps.
  • Support stormwater management facility design calculations and modeling.
  • Review Construction/Contract Plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Assist with writing reports and technical memos.
  • Assist with drainage design permitting support.
  • Perform Water quality assessments and calculations.
  • Measure floodplain impacts and compensation calculations.
  • Prepare cost opinions and write technical documents.
  • Support construction phase implementation of infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT or the ability to obtain within 12 months. Candidates hired without their EIT will be called a Transportation Hydraulics Coordinator and will be expected to obtain EIT for career progression
  • MicroStation/AutoCAD required. Civil 3D, StormCAD, Open Roads Designer experience

  • Applicable experience performing drainage design for highway/roadway projects, preparing plans and specifications, and permitting experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Self-motivated to complete tasks and learn new skills

  • Local candidates preferred with the ability to work in the office to allow for in-person collaboration
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
