The Sen Laboratory located in the Longwood Medical Area at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) is looking for a Research Laboratory Manager who has experience and/or expertise in performing single-cell and nuclei RNA sequencing wet bench/experimental protocols in per diem role, to support several ongoing projects in the lab. Our research lab focuses on translational human immunology studies of viral immunity and immunopathogenesis in the immunocompromised host. Knowledge gained from these studies will help to guide the design of more effective eradication strategies and treatments against various infectious pathogens.
The applicant must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in an academic and/or laboratory research setting AND have at least 1 year of experience in executing emulsion-based single-cell/nuclei library generation and next-generation sequencing workflows and be highly organized, meticulous, and rigorous in the implementation of wet bench experimental protocols. The applicant will work independently but be trained in best practices and supervised closely by the Principal Investigator; perform duties in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, and conduct a variety of experiments with established methodologies; participate in the design and modification of research protocols; and contribute to figure generation and methods and results writing for abstracts, research reports, and manuscripts. The applicant will coordinate lab activities as it relates to these specific experiments, assist in general lab management issues, and undertake quality assurance programs. A minimum 1-year commitment is required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Supervises and/or implements the wet-bench single-cell and sequencing operations of the lab, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator Education Minimum 1 year of experience performing single-cell/nuclei library generation and next-generation sequencing workflows Ability to make independent decisions. Aptitude for technical problem solving. Ability to effectively supervise others. Excellent Organizational skills. Must possess strong budget and management skills. Excellent judgement and ability to interpret information. Interest in and comfort with working with human clinical specimens Sound degree of computer literacy with basic programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint) with willingness to learn Adobe Illustrator, reference managers (i.e. Zotero) Ability to record and analyze data using basic statistics Ability to perform a variety of routine tests and prioritize work Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills Ability to demonstrate highest levels of professionalism The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
