Summary: The sustaining engineer maintains and improves released products by troubleshooting issues, providing root cause analysis, reducing costs, improving efficiency, managingengineeringchange notices, and handling component obsolescence with a focus on long-term product health, reliability, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will manage design changes, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing and other support teams. They will supplytechnical review and direction for existing designs and suggest potential design changes to improve customer outcomes for internal and external customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Technicalliaisonbetween Product Engineering andManufacturing, Quality and Purchasingdepartmentsfor various rotating pumps (Vane, Gear and Centrifugal)andreciprocating compressorstrouble shooting technical issues, process control improvements, supply issues and support of new purchasing initiatives (regional and global). Process and approve manufactured and purchased parts deviation forms. Design changes: Implement engineering change notices for fixes, improvements, or cost reductions managing Bills of Materials (BOMs). Guideregional andglobal engineering team members to complete engineering change work. Create and manage Bills of Material (BOMs)and component part datain the Oracle ERP system. Handle component obsolescence with a focus on long-term product health, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Guide and mentor designers (USA and global sites) in best practices and project requirements for product improvements. Manage the SolidWorks PDM database for updates in accessibility state of CAD files for the CAD designers. Support CAD designers of engineered special products orders (ESORs) by providing technical assistance and performing finalevaluationof bills of materials and drawings. Conduct some minor CAD design work on SolidWorks CAD, forEngineering Changes (ECNs) andengineered special products orders (ESORs). Perform project management activities for product improvementand specialprojects. Aid inmaintaining thedesign standards database,compliance documents, and product literature release database. Issue technical instructions, productliteratureand engineering specifications as required. Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals. Supervisory Responsibilities:No direct reports in this position. However, the successful person will possess the ability to lead a team of diverse professionals toward desired outcomes. Technical Skills-Demonstrated mechanical and dynamic equipment design capability. Experience in the application of Thermal Dynamics, FluidMechanicsand Material Selection is required. Regulatory and Compliance-Working knowledge of Harmonized Tarif Codes (HTS), Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A knowledge of EU and EAC regulatory requirements (ATEX, Machinery Directive, PED, etc.) is desired. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS Mechanical Engineering) from an ABET accredited four-year college or universitywith a minimum oftwo (2)years'engineering design experience.Will consider recent graduates from an ABET accredited school. SolidWorks or other3-D CAD platform experience is required.SolidWorks PDM file management desired. Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle. Microsoft Office Suite literacy is mandatory particularlyinWord and Excel. Capabilityto read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Effectivelyspeakbefore groups of customers or employees ofthe organization. Provento solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrationsare desired but not required.A desire to achievecertification,educationand development within scope of responsibility. Other Qualifications: Rotating equipment design experience such as pumps, engines,flowmeters, or similaris highly desirable. Reciprocating equipment, such as internal combustion engines or compressor designexperienceis likewise applicable.
