Summary: The sustaining engineer maintains and improves released products by troubleshooting issues, providing root cause analysis, reducing costs, improving efficiency, managingengineeringchange notices, and handling component obsolescence with a focus on long-term product health, reliability, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will manage design changes, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing and other support teams. They will supplytechnical review and direction for existing designs and suggest potential design changes to improve customer outcomes for internal and external customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Supervisory Responsibilities:No direct reports in this position. However, the successful person will possess the ability to lead a team of diverse professionals toward desired outcomes. Technical Skills-Demonstrated mechanical and dynamic equipment design capability. Experience in the application of Thermal Dynamics, FluidMechanicsand Material Selection is required. Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; Shares expertise with others. Regulatory and Compliance-Working knowledge of Harmonized Tarif Codes (HTS), Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A knowledge of EU and EAC regulatory requirements (ATEX, Machinery Directive, PED, etc.) is desired. Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS Mechanical Engineering) from an ABET accredited four-year college or universitywith a minimum oftwo (2)years'engineering design experience.Will consider recent graduates from an ABET accredited school. SolidWorks or other3-D CAD platform experience is required.SolidWorks PDM file management desired. Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle. Microsoft Office Suite literacy is mandatory particularlyinWord and Excel. Capabilityto read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Effectivelyspeakbefore groups of customers or employees ofthe organization. Provento solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrationsare desired but not required.A desire to achievecertification,educationand development within scope of responsibility. Other Qualifications: Rotating equipment design experience such as pumps, engines,flowmeters, or similaris highly desirable. Reciprocating equipment, such as internal combustion engines or compressor designexperienceis likewise applicable.
