Summary:
The Pharmacy Prior Authorization Supervisor coordinates and manages pharmacy technician staff involved in medication preparation and distribution -related activities to achieve continuous and optimal patient care.

The Pharmacy Prior Authorization Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting a team of Prior Authorization Technicians to ensure timely, accurate, and high quality processing of medication prior authorizations. This role oversees daily workflow, monitors productivity and quality metrics, provides coaching and development for team members, and partners closely with clinical, operational, and provider facing teams to optimize prior authorization processes and remove barriers to patient access.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High school diploma preferred. Preference for either an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Pharmacy Technician, Certificate degree as Pharmacy Technician, or a combination of education and relevant pharmacy management experience (2-4 years).
  2. License/Certifications: Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with Maine State Board of Pharmacy required.
  3. Experience: See "Education"
  4. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of technician staff.
  5. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with other managers/supervisors and hospital personnel.
  6. Technical acumen for applications relevant to pharmacy operations.
