The Bulk Oil Assistant Supervisor assists the Bulk Oil Shift Supervisor in his overall responsibility for the safe efficient operation of the shift. Responsibilities
- Support the Shift Supervisor by obtaining and understanding shift priorities.
- Assist in coordinating and assigning work to Field Operators and Dock Operators, ensuring tasks align with shift objectives.
- Help track and monitor department supplies, escalating needs to the Supervisor as appropriate.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining the required shift documentation and reports.
- Support the enforcement of company procedures and policies, escalating disciplinary concerns to the Supervisor.
- Provide guidance and direction to Field Operators and Dock Operators to promote safe and efficient job performance.
- Assist the Supervisor in monitoring staffing levels and preparing for adequate coverage on the following shift.
- Maintain a working knowledge of product pipelines, valves, tanks, piers, manifolds, and jumpers to provide support as needed.
- Review and approve Workday timesheets and time-off requests for direct reports (Dock Operators).
- Serve as acting Supervisor during Supervisor absences and provide leadership continuity across shifts.
- Has the authority to hire, discipline, and terminate employees, or to make recommendations regarding such actions that are given significant consideration.
- The primary duty of this role is the performance of executive, administrative, office and/or non-manual work that directly relates to the management or general business operations of IMTT and its customers. Your primary duties will include the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to significant company matters.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1-year prior experience at the facility.
- Valid Driver's License
- TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations.
Skills and Abilities
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
- Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
- Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions).
Hours of Work
- This is an exempt, salaried position. The role requires flexibility to support a 24/7 operation and will oversee day and night shift rotations, including weekends and holidays, as business needs require.
- Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

- Must be able to work in confined spaces, overwater and not be afraid of heights.
- Ability to wear and use a respirator.
