Research Assistant

100% Research Assistant Support

  • Supporting the Pinelands Region protection study by working with the lead biology contractor to assess important stream and riparian habitat conditions and the features that could be designed to improve biotic response.
  • This would include biogeochemical interactions, both micro and macro biological connectivity of in channel and riparian ecosystem services.
  • This position reports to Research Professor, Joe Magner.

Timeframe & Compensation:

  • This work is scheduled for Spring Semester 2026: start date: ASAP - 5/24/2026
  • This is a 50% (20 standard hours/week) appointment. Research Assistant (Job Code: 9521) at $29.52/hr. Payment will be issued on a biweekly basis.
    Work Location & Schedule
  • Saint Paul, MN. 20 hours per week working hours will be set with the supervisor, occurring Monday - Friday between 8 am - 4:30 pm

This position is covered by GLU-UE (Graduate Labor Union-United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America, Local 1105)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Limited to students registered in a graduate degree program at the University of Minnesota. Student must be registered in a graduate or post-baccalaureate professional degree program at the University of Minnesota.
  • Must have a strong chemistry background and fundamentals of natural water biological systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS degree in Chemical/Ecological Engineering.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $29.52 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience
