Genesis10 is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Consultant with our client in the financial industry located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract position. Responsibilities:
- Test and deliver complex software solutions that support US Payments - Wires, including Fedwire, CHIPS, SWIFT MT/MX, and ISO 20022 enabled payment flows
- Ensure that software meets all functional, nonfunctional, compliance, and regulatory requirements associated with high value wire processing
- Validate payment messages, test routing and settlement workflows, support investigations and exception processing, and ensure systems remain compliant with OFAC, AML, and sanctions screening rules
- Lead the creation and maintenance of test frameworks, automation suites, regression packs, and test data strategies to ensure robust coverage across all wire related processes and integrated applications
- Develop detailed, comprehensive, and well structured test cases based on functional, nonfunctional, compliance, and regulatory requirements unique to wire payments
- Lead test planning for wire related features, ensuring clear acceptance criteria aligned to Fedwire, CHIPS, SWIFT MT/MX, and ISO 20022 specifications
- Identify in scope and out of scope items with strong awareness of operational and regulatory impacts for high value, time sensitive wire transactions
- Implement and maintain test frameworks supporting wire validation across end to end flows: initiation, enrichment, routing, settlement, exceptions, returns, and investigations
- Lead test case reviews with SMEs, compliance, engineering, and operations to ensure coverage of payment rails and regulatory controls
- Identify, design, and implement automation opportunities for high value wire scenarios, including message validation, MT/MX mapping, and ISO 20022 schema validation
- Manage sensitive wire test data, including high value amounts, cross border formats, sanctions sensitive names, and compliance test sets
- Execute manual and automated tests across integrated wire systems and record results with traceability to regulatory, functional, and technical requirements
- Report issues with detailed diagnostics, including payment payload analysis (MT/MX, XML), trace logs, and clearing rail rule references
- Lead triage of wire related defects, coordinating with developers, payment operations, compliance, and investigations teams to ensure timely resolution
- Create and maintain end to end traceability across the development lifecycle, including mapping to payment rail rules, regulatory standards, and business requirements
- Use testing tools (message validators, XML editors, log analyzers, automation frameworks) and adhere to promotion, DevOps, and CI/CD processes for wire systems
- Maintain and catalog regression suites across smoke, integration, and full cycle wire processing, ensuring coverage of resiliency, failover, and performance scenarios
Requirements:
- 7+ years of overall QA/software testing experience, including functional, integration, and regression testing
- 5+ years of QA experience in high value payments or banking (US Wires - Fedwire, CHIPS, or SWIFT MT/MX / ISO 20022)
- 3+ years of experience as a QA lead/senior QA owning test strategy and execution for a squad or feature area
- Strong hands on experience with test automation using tools such as Selenium, RestAssured, JUnit/TestNG, or similar
- Experience testing Java/Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs, and event driven flows (Kafka or other messaging platforms)
- Good SQL skills and experience validating data in Oracle (or similar RDBMS), including complex joins and reconciliation
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, qTest, ALM, Zephyr)
- Experience working in CI/CD environments (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps) and integrating automated tests into pipelines
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and basic shell scripting to support environment validation and log analysis
- Knowledge of wire domain message formats (SWIFT MT, ISO 20022 MX) and validation of key data elements and rules

Desired skills:
- Experience analyzing, validating, and troubleshooting Fedwire and CHIPS message elements, routing codes, settlement attributes, and wire payment statuses
- Deep knowledge of SWIFT MT/MX standards, including mandatory fields, sequence rules, and cross element validations
- Hands on experience validating ISO 20022 MX schemas, data dictionaries, and mapping between legacy MT messages and MX formats
- Familiarity with wire investigations, inquiries, adjustments, and exception handling workflows (NOCs, rejects, returns, compliance holds)
- Understanding of sanctions screening, OFAC lists, AML controls, and regulatory obligations impacting wire processing
- Experience supporting or testing integrations with fraud systems, core banking, sanctions engines, payment orchestration layers, and downstream ledger platforms
- Knowledge of high availability and resiliency requirements for time critical payment systems, including failover, disaster recovery, and performance testing
- Ability to interpret payment rail rulebooks (Fedwire Operating Circulars, CHIPS Rules, SWIFT Standards) and apply them to test scenarios
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills, with ability to explain complex wire related issues to both technical and business stakeholders
- Experience working within Agile environments supporting continuous refinement, automation, and process improvement for wire payment capabilities
- Experience with performance and reliability testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, Locust)
- Exposure to observability and log platforms (e.g., Splunk, ELK, Dynatrace, AppDynamics) for debugging and validation
- Experience with test data management, synthetic data generation, and masking strategies for regulated environments
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations (OFAC, AML, sanctions) from a QA/test case perspective
- Prior experience in payments vendor platforms and related tools (e.g., Lenium/Lennium or other in house QA utilities)
