Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
Our mission is to provide collaborative health care designed to empower students to develop lifelong skills that enhance their physical, psychological, and wellness status and create a supportive and professional environment that encourages student success and retention.

Position Summary
The Counseling Center Administrative Support Associate is responsible for:

  • Assisting with handling all tasks associated with the Counseling and Psychological Services reception desk (patient check-in and check-out, answering telephone calls, assembling clinic records, etc.).
  • Appointment scheduling and managing provider schedules.
  • Other related administrative duties as assigned.
  • This position is located in the Counseling and Psychological Services Reception Desk area and functions as a member of an active work team (consisting of 15 therapists, 3-4 trainees, and 2 Administrative Support Associates) with cross-training in, and responsibility for, other administrative functions.
  • This position requires efficient organization skills, knowledge of basic health information management conventions, an ability to work with a diverse group of people with varying knowledge and understanding of counseling, compassionate communication skills as required to deal with students in distress, and an ability to respond proactively within a growing, dynamic, ever-changing work environment.

Minimum Qualifications
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE WORK.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a university environment.
  • Prior experience and demonstrated proficiency with Excel, Banner 9, Chrome River, and web-based software applications.
  • Prior experience and demonstrated skill with customer service etiquette, Mental Health, and Psychiatry knowledge.
