Partners with business leaders and P&O colleagues to diagnose and address the most complex organizational challenges within and across the US Commercial business, enabling Novartis to unlock value. This leader will help to successfully and sustainably drive US transformation, monitoring and advising on organizational health, and contributing to the mission of reimagining medicine to improve and extend people's lives.

The OD Head, US manages a team of OD and Change Management Directors for the US business, ensuring the work is prioritized and allocated, and engaging and developing the team members.

Job Description

Major accountabilities:

Partners with business leaders and P&O colleagues to diagnose and address the most complex, prioritized organizational challenges within unit and across Novartis businesses, unlocking disproportionate value. 80% of time spent

  • As a senior consultant, works with senior business leaders and their teams to address organizational challenges and opportunities and creates the organizational capability needed to drive business performance. This includes seeking to make the complex more simple for the business.
  • Diagnoses root causes, and leads delivery of top-quality organization design, development and change management advice and interventions in line with diagnosis done
  • Leverages organizational data to develop insights for improved business performance and design
  • Identifies and explores the use of AI and other emerging technologies to improve OD tools and broader enablement
  • Regularly lead teams of colleagues on Org Design, Org Health and Change Management projects from various expertise areas in and beyond P&O
  • As a rounded and senior consultant, leverages deep skill in diagnosis, org and operating model design and change management, as well as team and leader development.

The OD Head, US manages a team of OD Directors for the business, ensuring the work is prioritized and allocated, and engaging and developing the team members. 20% of time spent

  • The OD Head, US works with the Commercial T&D Head to manage a portfolio of OD work, that is supported by own team members, by Novartis OD colleagues, and selected external contractors and consultants.
  • Provides guidance to pooled OD resources who provide flexible support on critical US projects.
  • Works with Global OD Head, other global OD peers, to define and deliver shared standards of excellence.

Key Performance Indicators

  • High quality, professional OD practice approaches and toolkits in place and actively used across P&O globally
  • Quality and execution of specific projects according to customer needs (often ECN and ECN-1) and expected outcomes delivered to cost, quality and time
  • Feedback from internal partners, and clients (Snr Business leaders, PO business partners, PO colleagues) recognize added value of support
  • Evidence in organizational health metrics from a variety of sources incl NOHA, Our Voice, OCI, Team perspectives
  • Progress in implementing People & Organization Strategies

What you will bring to the role:

  • Minimum 15 years OD experience, supported by broader consulting, PO, strategy and/or transformation experience.
  • Practical and pragmatic business focus
  • Strong presence with senior executive engagement and facilitation, strong influencing ability incl challenge, through consulting, communication and relationship building skills
  • Proven data, analytical and conceptual skills, combined with ability to implement
  • Proven expertise in OD and change management methodologies and (successful) large-scale project delivery of most complex nature
  • Known for strong collaboration and networking
  • External consulting and/or business leadership experience would be valuable
  • Experience in applying AI and emerging technologies to enhance org diagnosis, design, workforce planning and organization health outcomes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep experience in leading large-scale transformations, complex OD/ change management interventions or business improvement projects.
  • Diagnosing organizations and understanding organizational health using various data measurement and analysis methods, combined with the ability to determine the appropriate interventions to shift performance outcomes
  • Lead large scale Organization Design interventions, based on solid understanding of organizations as whole systems
  • Design change management strategies and lead implementation of change, including behavior and culture change
  • Support senior teams to achieve high performance through effective Team Development interventions

The salary for this position is expected to range between $160,300 and $297,700 per year.

The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards. US-based eligible employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, and a variety of other benefits.

In addition, employees are eligible for a generous time off package including vacation, personal days, holidays and other leaves.

Salary Range

$194,600.00 - $361,400.00
