Job Summary

The Assistant Director of May Center Operations has primary responsibility within the facility for handling emergencies, maintenance, safety, security and to ensure the facility is appropriately staffed for all programs.



Job Responsibilities Include

    Ensure superior customer service by sustaining a culture, through leadership and example, that is wholly committed to listening to members and program participants, understanding their needs, and exceeding expectations.
  • Supervise opening and closing of the May Center and be on call to handle coverage responsibilities and emergencies.
  • Direct and support frontline staff in all May Center operating divisions to ensure safe and adequate staffing based on business flow.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, motivating, scheduling/coverage, evaluating, and in collaboration with human resources, discipline and termination of all utility workers, as well as membership service agent per diems.
  • Conduct prospect tours, enroll new members, and transact renewals in the absence of membership consultants.
  • Responsible for a maintaining a center-wide communication log and reviewing it, as needed, to ensure all issues are fully resolved.
  • Route all incident/ accident reports to the relevant supervisor, and/or human resources when applicable.
  • Responsible for oversight of all financial transactions.
  • Execution of the facility's emergency response plan and serve as the first responder to all incidents and accidents.
  • Monitor all areas of the facility from the basement to the penthouse by conducting frequent routine walk-throughs, checking for maintenance, hazardous conditions, and safety factors that need attention.
  • Lead and support ancillary program efforts for the May Center in collaboration with division heads.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.


Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, interpersonal and written skills.
  • Supervisory experience with extensive customer service background.
  • Strong mathematical, office and Windows based PC skills, with knowledge of club management software, multi-line phones and point-of-sale systems.
  • Must be willing to be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. 92NY will assist in acquiring and maintaining certifications.


Work Environment & Requirements

40 hours/week.

Compensation Range

$55,000 - $60,000

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
