THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is seeking a seasonal Laborer to join our team. This role involves performing essential unskilled tasks that contribute to maintaining clean and safe facilities for all visitors. In addition to these responsibilities, the Laborer will support both semi-skilled and skilled maintenance personnel, ensuring that our parks and recreational areas remain in top condition. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, your primary responsibilities will include the collection and disposal of waste throughout the park, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for all visitors. You will also collaborate with fellow staff members to address various janitorial needs, contributing to the overall maintenance of the park. Additionally, you will play a role in the upkeep of landscaping, helping to maintain the park's aesthetic appeal. Regularly restocking essential materials and supplies will be part of your duties, ensuring that all areas of the park are well-equipped. Furthermore, you will assist other team members in addressing the needs of visitors and providing excellent customer service.

In terms of public relations, it is crucial to present a professional image to the public by adhering to the Bureau's mission. This includes using appropriate language and conduct, maintaining a neat uniform appearance, ensuring vehicle cleanliness, and being well-prepared. A foundational understanding of the park and its operations, coupled with a friendly and helpful demeanor, will enable you to effectively assist park visitors when they seek information or support.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.
  • Shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
