DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Transportation Technician working under the guidance of the Posted and Bonded Roads Coordinator, your role encompasses a variety of essential tasks aimed at ensuring the safety and integrity of roadways. You will be responsible for conducting initial, weekly, and final inspections of the roads as instructed, meticulously documenting their condition to provide a comprehensive overview of their status. In addition to these inspections, you will collect and analyze data from your assessments, which will be entered into the Posted and Bonded Roads Roadway Condition Survey database. This data is crucial for maintaining accurate records and facilitating informed decision-making regarding road maintenance and improvements. Your attention to detail and commitment to thorough documentation will play a vital role in the overall management of roadway conditions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time, seasonal employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. The seasonal program is from April through October.
  • You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
  • One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a Class C non-commercial driver's license.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
