Title: Lead Counsel - Litigation & Investigations

Location: Atlanta, GA; Columbus, OH; Dallas, TX; Washington, DC

Onsite/Remote/Hybrid: Hybrid role

About the Role:

The Litigation, Investigations & Regulatory (LIR) team plays a critical role in enabling McKesson to advance enterprise strategy, navigate complexity, and protect the organization's legal and reputational interests. As Lead Counsel, you will provide strategic, businessaligned legal guidance on a broad range of complex litigation, prelitigation, and investigations across multiple business units. This role is ideal for an experienced litigator who enjoys combining legal expertise with practical business judgment, and who thrives in a fastpaced environment with significant autonomy and seniorlevel visibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Litigation & Disputes
  • Manage a portfolio of complex commercial litigation matters, including class actions, government inquiries, and commercial disputes.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategy in partnership with senior stakeholders.
  • Oversee outside counsel, including selection, budget management, work product review, and strategic guidance.
  • Advise business units on litigation risk, exposure, and resolution options, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities.

Investigations:

  • Support government investigations, subpoenas, CIDs, and regulatory inquiries, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Strategic Advisory:

  • Serve as a trusted business partner to senior leaders across multiple business units.
  • Evaluate and communicate legal risk in a clear, practical, and actionable manner.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives within the LIR team and the broader GCO, including process improvements, knowledge-sharing, and operational enhancements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • 8+ years of litigation experience at a law firm or inhouse legal department, with meaningful responsibility for complex matters.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to deliver concise, businessoriented advice.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple highstakes matters simultaneously.
  • Experience working with or managing outside counsel.
  • Exceptional judgment, integrity, and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience within the healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or technology sectors.
  • Experience handling government investigations, subpoenas, or regulatory matters involving the DOJ, DEA, FDA, or other agencies.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-wide litigation operations, including eDiscovery, document preservation, and subpoena response processes.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships across highly matrixed organizations.
  • Demonstrates strong digital fluency and judgment by effectively using approved technology and AIenabled tools to support litigation matters, improve efficiency and quality, and manage risk.
  • Critically evaluates AIassisted outputs, exercises appropriate oversight, and remains accountable for all legal work product.
  • Adopts a continuous improvement mindset in leveraging digital tools consistent with professional and ethical obligations.

Minimum Experience

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

The Litigation & Investigations team is part of the Law pillar within the General Counsel Organization (GCO), which includes Compliance, Corporate Affairs, and Enterprise Quality. We support McKesson's mission to advance

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $150,000 - $250,000
