Position Summary

The University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) is actively seeking a part-time OB/GYN physician for an inpatient laborist opportunity. The OB/GYN laborist will focus on overseeing the care of pregnant and postpartum women presenting at the University of Illinois Hospital's newly renovated Obstetrical Emergency Room (OBER) on both emergency and routine bases. This is a 100% inpatient position with a day shift-based schedule; no weekday call is required (unless specifically requested).

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide triage and care for assigned and unassigned OBGYN patients.
  • Admit and provide a full spectrum of labor and delivery and postpartum care for obstetric patients.
  • Other responsibilities may include assisting in emergent cesarean deliveries, providing coverage for precipitous births, managing obstetric emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage, and providing coverage for other OBGYN providers during their involvement with additional emergencies.
  • Participate in the education, training, and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows, and provide consultative support to CNMs and family physicians.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD (or equivalent).
  • Board certified/board eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
