Industrial Design Intern

Worthington Enterprises is seeking an Industrial Design summer intern to assist with projects within the Consumer Products Innovation group.

The intern participates in our Company-wide Summer Internship Experience that helps college students develop professional skills. During this 10-week program, interns spend approximately 80 percent of their time completing a business-driven project. This project could range from generating ideas for product improvement to creating new processes. At the end of the summer, each intern participates in an intern graduation event where they will present their project to their manager, mentors and members of senior leadership.
Interns will spend the remainder of their time receiving additional on-the-job experience and classroom learning. The internship classes will feature topics such as Clifton Strengths Assessment, Transformational Mindset, Getting Things Done.
In keeping with Our Philosophy, the program will also feature a community service component.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Actively researching and sharing new trends, products, and categories for innovation.
  • 2D Sketch development of concepts and form exploration
  • 3D modeling / rendering
  • 3D printing
  • Develop physical prototypes
  • Design research - personas, journey mapping, and summary reporting.
  • Graphic Visualization of consumer research.



Qualifications:



  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design/Product Design
  • Able to submit a non-confidential portfolio demonstrating student/ professional work.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience using Solid Works or similar 3D modeling software.
  • Experience in Keyshot or other rendering software
  • Strong graphic design and presentation skills.
  • Able to demonstrate design research techniques
  • Positive attitude - team player
