Data Modeler/Data Architect

Join Life Cycle Engineering in support of the NCIS IT support services mission headquartered in Quantico, Virginia. The Information Technology Directorate (ITD) supports the NCIS core mission areas to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats by planning for and providing services through appropriate use of the people, equipment, technology, and infrastructure resources of the United States (U.S.) Navy and Marine Corps.

Position Summary:

As a Data Modeler/Data Architect you will be responsible for Data strategy, Data and analytics governance, Data modeling, Data architecture, and analytics security, this will include Master Data Management (MDM), Metadata management and developing linkages between systems. You will have experience in identifying structural solutions working with database administrators and analyst to secure easy access to data. And will be responsible for designing, creating, deploying and managing data architecture. This position is expected to start in Q3 of 2026.

Clearance Requirements:

Must have an active Top Secret/SCI Clearance

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Provide a standard common business vocabulary, expresses strategic data requirements, outlines high level integrated designs to meet these requirements, and aligns with the enterprise strategy and related business and technical architecture.
  • Define how the data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as any applications using or processing that data.
  • Knowledge in setting principles, models of data that enable implementation of the intended business architecture, create diagrams showing key data entities, and create an inventory of the data needed to implement the architecture vision.
  • Experience in organizing data at the macro level and the micro level, providing a logical data model as a standard of consuming applications to inherit and a logical data model with elements and business rules needed for creation of data quality rules.
  • Proven experience in data architecture, analysis and management, with excellent problem-solving abilities.



Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related study (or equivalent project-related experience).
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in IT, with at least two (2) years in information system design.
  • In-depth experience of designing and implementing information solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with implementing data and analytics management programs is preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years' experience as a data analyst is highly desirable.



Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • Travel will be required to support this task (up to 25% travel)
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
