Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Staff Scientist to participate in a diverse array of terrestrial and aquatic resource projects in our Lexington, South Carolina office. Our flexibility and core value of relationships allow us to offer employees the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment including working from the office and remotely. This position requires 2-3 days in the office. Who You Are A Biologist/Ecologist with a BS in Environmental Science, or related field with 3-7 years of professional work experience in the Southeastern United States with performing habitat assessments, impact assessments, routine monitoring, or related field efforts for terrestrial species and/or native fish. Knowledgeable: Working knowledge of regional terrestrial ecology and wildlife and/or fish biology, including species identification, habitat assessments, and natural history. Competency in scientific writing and data analysis. Proficient with MS Office Suite. Knowledge of consulting and working within budgets. Able to perform literature reviews and summaries. Experienced: Demonstrated experience conducting fieldwork in and around rivers and remote environments throughout the Southeastern United States. Experience working from boats, kayaking, and wading in moving water. Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting boat engines and trailers is considered an asset. Dedicated: Willingness to travel for work within the United States and Canada. Ability to work independently without supervision, as well as part of a team. Flexibility to work occasional weekends and some longer/earlier/later than normal workdays. Committed to safety and harmonious working relationships. Additional Requirements
