Pay Range: $130,000 to $165,000 per year
Purpose of Position:
The Senior FSQA Manager oversees all food safety and quality programs at our processing facility, ensuring compliance with USDA/FSIS, customer, and company standards. This role leads FSQA supervisors and representatives, manages HACCP and SSOP programs, handles product disposition decisions, and partners closely with operations to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement. Responsibilities include regulatory communication, team training and development, data analysis, the implementation of food safety and quality initiatives, and resolution communication.
Essential Job Functions:
Food Safety & Compliance
- Implement, validate, and verify all Food Safety programs, including HACCP and SSOPs.
- Ensure compliance with USDA/FSIS regulations and GFSI standards.
- Manage regulatory relationships with onsite FSIS personnel, including communication and resolution of noncompliances.
Operational Partnership
- Ensure production, sanitation, maintenance, and quality teams adhere to food safety and quality procedures through training, coaching, and direct process observation.
- Address processing, sanitation, and maintenance issues promptly through collaboration with FSQA and Operations teams.
Leadership & Team Development
Hire, train, and develop FSQA supervisors and hourly representatives to ensure high levels of technical competency and performance.
Promote a strong food safety culture within the facility.
Manage scheduling, timekeeping, and disciplinary actions to maintain adequate staffing and performance standards.
Continuous Improvement & Data Management
- Oversee FSQA data systems, including collaboratively working with operational partners to address emerging trends through sustainable action plans that address rootcauses.
- Lead or support projects focused on improving process control, equipment performance, or overall food safety and quality outcomes.
Customer/Consumer Service & Resolution
Investigate complaints and quality concerns, identify root causes through cross functional partnerships, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Evaluate nonconforming product and provide dispositions.
Communicate findings and resolution steps to all stakeholders to prevent recurrence and maintain strong customer confidence.
Ensure FSQA programs support consistent delivery of products that meet customer expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Biological Sciences, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of food processing experience focused on FSQA
- Experience supervising a team
- Knowledge of HACCP, SSOPs, and USDA/FSIS regulations
- Strong analytical, communication, and decisionmaking skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Ability to work flexible hours
