IBM MQ Containerization Engineer (Contract | 4-6 Weeks | Remote)
We are seeking an experienced IBM MQ Containerization Engineer to lead the modernization and containerization of existing IBM MQ environments. This short-term engagement (6-8 weeks) involves assessing the current MQ setup, designing a containerized architecture, and implementing a Kubernetes-based deployment model. The ideal consultant has strong expertise in IBM MQ, containerization best practices, and orchestration within Kubernetes (AKS/EKS/GKE/OpenShift).

What You'll Accomplish:
- Evaluate the existing IBM MQ infrastructure and identify requirements for containerization.
- Design and build containerized IBM MQ images following best practices for security, performance, and reliability.
- Develop Kubernetes deployment configurations (Helm charts, Operators, YAML manifests, etc.) for MQ queues, topics, and supporting components.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, deployment, and updates of MQ containers.
- Collaborate with internal engineers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure smooth migration and alignment with broader modernization goals.
- Conduct performance tuning, optimization, and testing of the containerized MQ environment.
- Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and operational handoff to ongoing support teams.
What You'll Bring:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ, including installation, configuration, clustering, and troubleshooting.
- Strong experience containerizing applications using Docker or similar technologies.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes, including deployments, StatefulSets, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, ingress, and monitoring.
- Experience with OpenShift, EKS, AKS, or similar managed Kubernetes services (preferred but not required).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, security, TLS, certificates, and role-based access.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results in a fast-paced consulting engagement.
