EPIC) develops a high-quality technical workforce, advances energy technologies, and fosters strategic industry-university collaboration to support the global energy sector and strengthen the Carolinas' economic and energy security.

| Primary Purpose of Position |
The Energy Research Engineer supports EPIC's national healthcare energy-efficiency program, which provides building-controls analysis for more than 50 acute-care hospitals and maintains a long-standing partnership within the healthcare sector. |
| Summary of Position Responsibilities |
- Developing energy-efficiency plans in coordination with a project partner.
- Independently assessing facility performance.
- Preparing detailed monthly energy reports, and delivering actionable recommendations to facility management.
- Collaborates with specialized experts to advance systemwide energy-reduction strategies and promote consistent operational performance across all hospital brands.

| Minimum Education/Experience |
Masters Degree in Engineering and experience with energy engineering and building controls. |
| Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience |
- Additional coursework or certification in building automation systems, control theory, or energy management is desirable.
- Possess a deep understanding of building automation systems, HVAC control strategies, and sequences of operation, along with solid knowledge of ASHRAE Level I and II energy-audit methodologies.
- Familiarity with acute-care hospital operations, facility-management practices, utility rate structures, and key energy-performance metrics is preferred.
- Strong analytical capabilities to interpret BAS data, utility trends, and operational performance, as well as the ability to independently develop high-quality technical energy reports.
- Demonstrated proficiency with data-analysis tools and BAS interfaces and experience conducting or supporting energy audits, developing actionable recommendations, and working within complex or mission-critical environments, such as healthcare, is a preferred ability.
