Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) is seeking anexperiencedMechanical Integrity Engineerwith15+ years of experiencefor an opportunity to be an integral part of our growing FitnessForService (FFS) practicebased in Houston, Texas.

With an in-depth knowledge of process equipment damage mechanisms, fixed-equipment mechanical integrity (FEMI), and safety-critical FFS evaluations, you will support our established clients, while also pursuing clients and projects from your existing professional network.

Responsibilities:

  • Technicalproject executionfor the day-to-day success of multiple concurrent projects,including:

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project teams
  • Leveragingaprinciples-first approach to develop practical solutions for challenging engineering problems in combination withadeepunderstandingofcodes, standards, andhistorical industry practices
  • Self-performing andadvisingothers in complex, nonlinearanalysis,hands-on fieldwork, and preparation of technically excellent client deliverables
  • Providing high-qualitytechnicalreviewsof work completed by others
  • Sealing project documents as the Engineer of Record, as appropriate
  • Project management,including client development;project initiation,scoping, andassemblingappropriate projectteams;andmanaging internal and external client expectations,deliverables, and financials

  • Contributions to practice development and company-wideobjectives,including providing technical consultation to interdisciplinary project teams;fostering new and existing client relationships;collaborating with other WJE practice leaders for in-house knowledge-sharing and training initiatives; and engaging in meaningful involvement in industry-related professional organizations, conferences, and technical committees

  • Mentorship, including exemplifying WJE's culture of shared destiny and knowledge sharing to better the team around you: locally and company-wide,formallyand informally, on-and-off projects, for technical topics and overall career development

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)or ability to obtain

  • Bachelor's degree or higherin aerospace, civil/structural, mechanical engineering, or related field;master's degree or PhDa plus

  • Minimumfifteen years*of relevant industry experience within petrochemical, refining, power generation, upstream, midstream, mining, or other heavy industrial marketswithdemonstrated expertisein:

  • Level 3 assessmentin accordance withAPI 579 / ASME FFS-1 Fitness-For-ServiceStandard
  • Fracture mechanics, fatigue, and failure mechanisms
  • Nonlinearfinite elementanalysis for steel, concrete, and other construction materials;ABAQUS (Abaqus FEA) preferred
  • Design, repairs/alterations, and reliability of fixed equipment, pressure vessels, and piping
  • Dedicated self-starter,motivated to contribute to the growth of an expanding consulting practice based on a "principles first" problem-solving approach

  • Excellent technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills

* The minimum years of experience may be flexible for candidates who can clearlydemonstratethat they are already performing at or above the level of responsibility expected for this position.

  • Ability to perform inspections ofprocess equipmentand other structures, both visually and with instruments

  • Ability to safely work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations, including outdoors with exposure to temperature extremes

  • Ability to safely use and/oroperateladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other access equipment

  • Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and other heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.

  • Medically fit toutilizerespiratory protection devices and other forms of Personal Protective Equipment

  • Ability to drive and safelyoperatea motor vehicle

  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and authorization to work and travel throughout the United States without restrictions

WJE offers a robust, total compensation structure composed of base salary, incentive pay, and industry-leading benefits:

  • Base salary is determined through consideration of a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role while remaining mindful of our commitment to internal equity.

  • Employees receive variable compensation based on personal and company performance, typically resulting in above-market total compensation.

A good faith estimate of the annual starting base salary (gross) is in the following range:

$115,650.00 - $192,750.00
