Acara Solutions and our client located in Pittsfield, MA have a contract-to-direct hire position available

Systems Engineer-Nuclear Weapons Security

Target conversion timeline: 6 months, with flexibility to level candidates up or down based on experience.

Position Overview
This role will support both new and legacy programs-including sustaining existing systems and developing new capabilities. Candidates with a strong Systems Engineering (SE) background and experience in early program lifecycle activities are highly preferred. The team's primary focus is ongoing sustainment, with some development work as needed.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Support both new and legacy programs-sustain existing systems and help develop new capabilities

Apply Systems Engineering (SE) principles across early program lifecycle activities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain and enhance system performance

  • What We're Looking For:

    • Strong SE background with experience in requirements management and system modeling tools (IBM DOORS, Simulink)

    • Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux (Red Hat) administration

    • Problem solver, creative thinker, and team player who thrives in collaborative environments

  • Bonus Skills:

    • Requirements decomposition & test procedure development

    • Windows PowerShell, Cisco Networking, virtualization

    • Cybersecurity tool administration

    • Database experience (Mongo preferred)

  • Windows and Linux (Red Hat) experience required; Linux skills needed for a smaller subset of the team, but consistently in demand.

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with IBM DOORS.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Simulink.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Requirements Decomposition.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Test Procedure Development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Windows PowerShell.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Cisco Networking.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Operating System Administration (Linux, Windows).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Virtualization.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Cybersecurity Tool implementation and administration.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Database Administration.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
  • Agile experience.
  • Mongo.
  • Clear understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards.
  • Clear understanding of requirements management and system modeling tools.

Additional Information:

  • Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen.
