Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. We're looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our software engineering team and help us unleash the potential of every business.

What you'll own as the Senior Backend Software Engineer

Launchpad is a Worldpay application designed to streamline merchant onboarding. It collects all necessary merchant details, enabling businesses to quickly start accepting credit card payments and settle transactions on the Worldpay platform. Launchpad includes both a user-friendly UI and robust API components to support seamless integration.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design and build the next generation of RESTful APIs for our financial business partners using Java and Spring Boot. You will work in an Agile Scrum environment, collaborating with product managers and engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

  • Design and develop RESTful APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and related Spring projects (Spring Data JPA, Spring Cloud, etc.).

  • Participate in end-to-end product lifecycle: requirements gathering, solution design, development, code reviews, testing, and deployment.

  • Collaborate with architects and peers on API design, best practices, and system integration.

  • Write clean, maintainable code and perform unit/integration testing using JUnit, Mockito, and Spring Cloud Contracts.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring performance optimization and high availability.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation for APIs and system components.

  • Engage in peer code reviews and contribute to architectural discussions.

  • Communicate project status and deliverables effectively with stakeholders.

What you'll bring

  • 8+ years of experience in software development with strong knowledge of SDLC and best practices.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience building RESTful services using Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate/JPA.

  • Hands-on experience with Spring Data JPA for database interactions and ORM.

  • Strong understanding of design patterns, object-oriented principles, and API security best practices.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools.

  • Proficiency in writing unit and integration tests using JUnit or Mockito or Spring testing frameworks.

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes).

  • Exposure to event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka preferred).

  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).

Worldpay is dedicated to offering individuals rewarding career opportunities and competitive compensation. For this full-time position, the good faith estimated annual salary range upon hire is $113,600.00-$171,575.00. This range reflects what we reasonably expect to offer based on the role's responsibilities, level, and geographic location. The actual starting salary will be determined by a candidate's experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Please note that changes in work location may impact the final offered salary. We encourage you to consult with your recruiter to confirm the budget for your location and to better understand the applicable pay scale.This position is eligible for bonus.
